Following the Bucks selection review results, several friends of mine were unsuccessful and are very upset. They are now considering their next steps - appeal and/or 12+.

There isn't much information about 12+, the Bucks website has some, where it also points out that last year many schools had no available spaces for year 8 entry.

My question is, if there are (one or very few) spaces available for entry via late transfer testing, and more children pass than there are places (which obviously will happen), how do they decide which candidates those places go to? Is it by test score or are there oversubscription criteria? If there are oversubscription criteria, does this mean candidates with siblings at the school would be awarded places before candidates without?

I've moved your post to Bucks.
The criteria should be on the school websites, along with the 11 plus criteria.
As far as I am aware, they usually follow the same policy as for 11 plus entry.

It then simply follows the schools admission criteria.

Oh yes, sorry! Thanks for moving it.
Oh ok, so having a sibling would still be an advantage then. It's a little ray of hope I suppose, but still a long road ahead :(
