Can you please help with this question ??


A rectangular container measures 15m long, 9m wide and 6m high . A tap is turned on at a rate of 5m cubed per minute . At the same time the water in the container is released through another tap at a rate of 2m cubed per minute . What will the water level in the container be after 45 minutes??

water in: 5m^3/min
water out: 2m^3/min
so water remains 5-2 -> 3m^3/min

after 45mins, water remains 45 x 3 = 135 m^3

The container's volume = 9m x 15m x height (m) =135 m^3

Thus, the water level is 1m high.

I find it always helps to draw diagrams with questions like this.

Look at what information you have (it’s sometimes hidden in the wording) and then use that to find the missing bit.
