So long as it is the 300 applicants out of the 500 that are strongest in the skills the school is looking for. DG

Which could be why they are planning to have VR and English in Round 1 - possibly in place of a very linguistic VR.

I'm just trying to figure out why you would be surprised if they drop CEM.
After all, Bucks has done just that and it seems SW Herts are also doing it next year.

The Governing Body will then consider all responses received by 28 January 2019 before determining the final admission arrangements by 28 February 2019

One of the points that has been raised earlier is conflict between statements of "Candidates who live within 3 miles of the school" AND "statutory walking distance as defined in section 444 of the Education Act 1996" in the proposed oversubscription criterion 3.

The #1 Crow fly / straight line distance between home and school Vs #2 The distance between home and school is the nearest available route along which a student, accompanied as necessary, can walk with reasonable safety to school.

So will HBS follow the Education Act 1996 section 444 for this oversubscription criterion or act against it by making "local" children walk more than three miles or provide them with free transport?

When responding to this consultation document, is one allowed to comment on the actual test arrangements (and content) or should comments be restricted to where the document falls foul of general admissions codes or education acts?

Usually I am one of an absolute handful. Usually the number responding does not reach double figures.
