Thanks for your speedy response. So the papers are all the same. I think probably my son misunderstood that in a rush conversation after test.
The boys are all deserved a treat! Not easy for their age! The naughty ones even tried to make it more challenging by changing the format!

I must ask you how do you know "they" have changed the format?

I understand CRGS has usually been 50 mins for 50 english questions. The recommended GL papers for preparation are that. It was 55 or 56 questions in 45 mins. I did tell her to check number of qs and timing in case it was different and luckily her english is strong so she was unfazed but I was surprised.

The letter we got from Mrs Simmill said that English would be 56 questions in 45 minutes. Unfortunately GL don't seem to make practice papers in that format but just offer 50 questions in 50 mins. I gave DS the GL papers but only gave him 45 mins and warned him there would be even more questions on the day. Maybe the problem is with GL for not providing practice papers in the exact same format as the real thing.

My DS also said that there were some differences but as Joobee said we were told that the English would be different to the practice papers and I read in some of the GL literature that the actual tests on the day are harder than the practice tests. No idea why they do this.

According to what the boys talked about tests, we think they changed a bit (enough to shock the boys!). Do you know more about it? We are not experts just expressing our feelings here!

I know the format for the past few years has been the same, but it was different this time. I makes little difference as they all sat the same exam!! Just might throw a child enough to put them below passage, if they were border line. I assume it's to make them think their feet a bit, for those that have been tutored just to pass the test? I'm just assuming here from what I know off other's.
