Hi,

Can anyone share which areas people usually commute to HBS school? Given the house prices around that area, I am thinking people commute from more than 7 miles ( though depends). Is Radlett/Borehamhood too far? Are there school buses from any other areas?

It would great if anyone can share their experience in the prev years, who moved to HBS from other counties & bought houses eventually?

Thanks

There are private coach service more or less every where - Hounslow , Illford, Harrow , Watford, Bucks etc, obviously more you near to school it is better.

£2500-3000 per annum.
Please note some provides facility of door to door service so your child doesn't need to wait anywhere - of course, it depends on the provider.

Thanks. Seems moving in from other counties has cost implication of transportation /house prices.
I guess its personal choice between best school vs lifestyle(country side/less commute/houses)

Why HBS has gained so popularity than any other school in London? Is it mainly because of its oxbridge intake?

It is because it is non catchment so you can sit from anywhere and move.

The same thing has happened to QE boys.

But I predict that within 5 years all the places will go to those in the 3 mile catchment area so it will stop being a non catchment school.

HBS has not learned about all the cheating that happens with catchments and have not introduced any requirements. So it is just too easy to move into catchment and move right out again.

They should have listened and learnt from the experiences that DAO and the Watford grammars had before they cracked down. DG

Please have a look at the table available in the link below. It gives you the first part of the postcode of offered places

https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/ ... sthrough=1

Having looked at the data, the picture is quite mixed

6 from N12
5 from HA2
4 from WD17, NW11 and HA5 and so on

Your move depends on a lot of factors that will be unique to your family, your budget, whether buying or renting, commute to the school (via car or public transport) and other siblings for which you have to find the school to name a few. All these issues are doable, we moved from Wiltshire a few years ago ourselves so can speak from experience (not for HBS though).

Btw typical morning commute from Borehemwood to HBS is 22 to 40 minutes and from Radlett it is 26 to 45 minutes (according to google).

I wonder whether the Milton Keynes and the '2km North of Basingstoke' parents moved
