Does anyone know a good online practise course to prepare my son for the 2020 Latymer school entry test?

Non Verbal and Verbal reasoning
Math
English

My understanding it is a CEM style test.

Thank you for your help.
Welcome if you are new to the forum!

We try to keep the forum as safe as possible - we don't allow tutors or tutoring organisations (other than school/PTA and non-commercial organisations) to be openly recommended, because it attracts posts with fake recommendations ('dodgy' advertising solely designed to solicit business on the internet).
It is also not unknown for unscrupulous competitors to 'plant' negative posts, seeking to denigrate the opposition!

Genuine recommendations from forum members by PM only (private message) are permitted - but be aware of the possibility that someone who appears to be a 'helpful parent' offering advice may not be all they seem! There could be an ulterior motive.

Always treat recommendations from unknown persons with great caution.
However, we have many long standing members - check carefully the date of joining and number of posts - who make a very valuable contribution to the forum. If you receive a private recommendation from one of them, it could be worth considering.

Please let us know if you think anyone is abusing the system by soliciting for business or 'spamming'.
It's easy to report a possible problem - just click on the red exclamation mark that appears with every post and PM: Image

Your information about the Latymer test is three years out of date.

They abandoned CEM three years ago.

As clearly stated on their website the first round is GL Multiple Choice VR and Maths and the second round is a standard format English paper written by the English teachers.

The rounds take place on the same day; either Sunday 1st September or Tuesday 3rd September. A very busy three days for those sitting DAO, HBS and Latymer.

The first round is a single 60 minute GL mutiple choice VR and Maths paper.

This will be marked first.

Only the top 500 ranked candidates will have their English paper marked so those who are not in the top 500 will only get a single score from the first round paper.

500 English papers will be marked and those ranked in the top 192 will be offered a place IF THEY HAVE APPLIED ON THEIR CAF FORM and ranked Latymer higher than any other school that offers them a place.

The next 50 ranked candidates will be held on a waiting list should any of those offered a place in the top 192 turn down their place.

I assume that if you did not know the format you have not yet started your preparation.

Latymer states on the website that applications outnumber places ten to one.

Thank you for your reply.

I have just started and you were of course right, it is not CEM but GL..... " GL Multiple Choice VR and Maths".

I have 2 questions if I may:

1. The first test does not include NON VEB reasoning then?

2. Any idea on a good GL online course? PM if you have used one successfully, please.

As stated on the website there is no NVR.

First round GL Multiple Choice VR and Maths

Second round standard format English Comprehension and Composition

I very strongly suggest you work with the same format your DC (Edited by moderator) will have to deal with on the day which is paper format.

In my experience the smallest thing that is slightly different tends to throw some DC (Edited by moderator), especially those who only have a short time to prepare. DG

So its one paper containing both Maths and VR. Any idea of the paper and time breakdown? How many math and VR questions? GL typically does 80 VR questions in 50 mins not sure about their Maths.
