Ah yes. Mine was like this (everything goes out of the window most of the time though!) and I found the Peter Williams books helped. If you start with Book 1 the questions are easy enough to do pretty accurately within the time given so it gets you off to a positive experience with timing - most of his books, in all subjects are done in 6 to 10 minute stretches.

Now we've spend time on NVR her maths is ****. Can't win.

I've got the Peter Williams' maths; I'll get the NVR!A

Perhaps being a tad more generous with the timings until he's more used to NVR might boost his confidence is the way forward. :)

I guess you mean to say that Maths has gone down after focussing on NVR. That is the most challenging part of preparation - to maintain momentum on other stronger subjects while bringing the level up for the weaker one. Remembering things over time was another issue that drives me mad. Eventually it was just resorting to being patient, regular revisions and keeping fingers crossed.

:D :D I know what you mean.

And tell you, it gets maniac in Jul/Aug. The other thing that frustrated me was that my ds never used to gauge how he did in the exam. We did practised a lot on that so that when he come out from exam hall, he could tell whether it is 90% or more (rather than saying I did ok, I did good).
