My son did the Kent 11+ test in September- he came down with the rash for scarlet fever two days after the test. He missed the English by 2 with a score of 108. His other scores were high and his overall score is very good. He felt unwell during the essay. How successful would our grounds for appeal be? We have a doctors note to confirm that he had scarlet fever. The scarlet fever was only diagnosed post the test but there is a 1-7 day incubation period which suggests it was in his system at the time of the test.

An non-qualification appeal needs evidence of high ability, extenuating circumstances on their own are not sufficient (but may explain why he didn't reach the score) - have a look at the FAQ https://www.elevenplusexams.co.uk/appea ... lification

Welcome! :)

The point you raise would certainly be considered, but there are other factors to take into account.
It depends

As we often point out .....
      Quote:
You might win an appeal with strong academic evidence but no extenuating circumstances. You cannot win an appeal with extenuating circumstances but insufficient academic evidence.
