WOTSIT-
Hopefully, you have managed to resolve successfully such a nice-to-have problem.
I wonder if you wouldn't mind giving me some details about the preparation your son had. Was he at a prep school? Did the school do most of the preparations?
We have WUS on our hearts but its tricky to prepare for an exam, when there are no sample papers nor guidance.
In any event, it would greatly appreciated if you could drop me a line.
Thanks vm in advance.

English is a very key part of the exam at Westminster.

They like to think that their students are very advanced in English so they make sure those coming in are strong in English.

Understanding of the society around you is very important for the interview if you get that far.

So make sure your ds is reading First News and watching the news so he understands current issues. Is he in Y5 now? DG

Thanks for coming back. Yes, he is in Y5 now.

And, yes - indeed, we have subscribed for FN.

I am concerned that he is at a state school, and his school wouldn't provide as much support. So it would be really helpful to find out how to complement prep work for state-school boys, from experience. Thanks again.

State primaries needs to be teaching the KS1/2 syllabus and not the 11 plus.

There are plenty of state school students at WUS.

A whole group of Y6 state school boys started Saturday Latin classes at the school after Easter so they can catch up in time for start of term in September.

Lots of great resources in the forum shop next day delivery. The first past the post comprehension and maths books are excellent.

What materials have you been using so far? DG
