Hi,

It is not a temporary compromise. Either the family move, in which case the change is permanent and dramatic, or else the child remains unable to participate fully in the life of the school for the whole time he's there as he will be dependent on school coaches, he will be based a long way from the other boys and will spend a large amount of time travelling when he could be enjoying himself.

The schools rank well because of their highly selective intake. If a child performs well enough to get a place in one of these schools then the chances are they will succeed in whichever school they go to - it does not have to be a grammar. There is more to choosing a school than league tables.

DS is in year 8 and 2 kids ( that he is aware of) have given up a place at Sutton GS after starting there, due to unmanageable commutes.
