Pertinent point about looking at the school's GCSE options and sixth form criteria. My son is at TWGSB and catches the school bus at 7.45am. It's never been an issue and the bus journey is actually a highlight for him. He gets home at 4.45pm and still manages homework and after school clubs.

Although the super selective scores indicate great intelligence, they are tested in a really narrow field so a 410 kid may bomb at music or history, for example. I personally loved Judd but I viewed in terms of I would have loved to have gone there personally. The decision should rest with your child if the choice is Judd v Skinners - both excellent schools and neither a bad choice. Has he got a gut feeling?

In our case, son has no preference!

We looked at both Judd and Skinners with our son. He is now in year 9 at Judd and enjoying it, although he found the transition into year 7 hard - they do ramp up the homework early on.
They have started the GCSE syllabus in Y9 in order to fit it all in, so he was happy to drop Music, Art and Latin. He also loves rugby, which both schools play.

But I digress.....he liked them both equally when he visited them in Y5, and went for Judd partially because it's easier for him to get to (15 mins on the train with a 5-minute walk either end, instead of 45-50 minutes standing up on the bus through TW traffic).

Let your son decide, but journey times should be a big factor for their after-school activities and social life. As previous posters have said, he will do well at either school.
