The academic standard at the two schools is very similar, in fact by some measures it is higher at CRGS so that shouldn't be a factor in making your choice.
Anecdotally, one of my DCs only just got a place at 11+ but did extremely well at GCSE and A level and was never struggling academically.
There are always a few boys who are outstanding but most are pretty much on a par.
