Well done.

Do you have the number of OCC students within first 100 and 150 ranks ?

That will ease out uncertainty among many parents

Isn't in or out of catchment indicated by the 'yes' / 'no' against the scores in the FOI response? You just need to tot then up, in that case.

Yes it is. TBH, it is easier to look at the link provided.

I'd be really interested to know what you find out from the FOI request. Two years ago someone did the same and they obtained a spreadsheet with three sets of standardised scores for verbal, non verbal and numeric reasoning as well as the overall standardised score. These were organised by birth month so it was easy enough to find your own child. My daughter is also borderline (115ish) so if you are able to share a list, that would be great

I have received FOI acknowledement from Kendrick saying information will be sent no later than 21st November (20 school days). I will share in this forum as soon as I have it.

As long as you have out it on your CAF and you are in catchment , yes I should say so.

I was vicariously interested to see the data from the FOI request. It shows that 241 girls passed (weighted score >100) of whom, 170 were in and 71 were out of catchment. I suppose some of the out-of-catchment girls could have been aiming for Slough and ticked the Kendrick box "for fun" but I can't help thinking that a lot of people went to/put their Daughters through a lot of time/effort/stress with no chance of getting a place.

My real interest in the data, though, was to see the effect of the groundless "2 decimal places" scoring. In The Olden Days the results were quoted to the nearest 0.5. The effect of the decimal places is to greatly reduce the chance that tie-break will come into effect. Here are the candidates whose scores straddle the magic 96 cut-off:

94 115.48 115
95 115.48 115
96 115.43 115
97 115.42 115
98 115.37 115
99 115.3 115
100 115.19 115

With the current scoring, candidates 94, 95, 96 will be offered a place. With the to-the-nearest-0.5 scoring, all 7 of these candidates would be subjected to tie-break (for example, which of them live closest to the school).

Of course, some of the candidates in the range 1-96 will not apply for a place at Kendrick. The nature of the bell curve is that (theoretically) the number of candidates with a particular score-range gets bigger as you move from the tail to the peak of the curve. There were 7 candidates with a (rounded) score of 115. The group sizes(rounded scores) are:
7(115), 7(114.5), 9(114), 4(113.5), 7(113), 7(112.5), 6(112), 2(111.5), 10(111), 7(110.5), 11(110)

Pat.

Does anyone know what was the score of the 96th girl when the FOI was released last year ? Was it different from the cut off of the first allocation round in march?what was the percentage of students not putting Kendrick as their first choice during the past few years? Any information would be great . Thank you

I can't remember if we actually got the score of the 96th place last year, but in previous years the ranking has gone down to 110- 120.

There will be a few in the top 96 (in catchment) who don't put down kendrick or put a school higher in their preferences. Not as many as some other schools on here, but certainly a few.

Many thanks Tinkers. I fail to understand why one would choose to opt for another school if Kendrick is in their catchment and they are in the top 96 as it is one of the top schools? Is it because of the distance? Would they not know this prior to applying or are they just covering all possibilities just to be safe.

Distance for some.
Some decide that Kendrick isn't the best fit for them, it won't suit everyone. Some aren't sure that the school they really want will be able to give them a place so they try for kendrick as well just in case.

Some will also be in catchment for a Slough school and that may be a much easier journey.

Some decide on a private school instead. I know of a couple that have gone for The Abbey instead despite having qualified well for Kendrick.
